About Carmela Cattuti
Carmela Cattuti began painting in 1980 and has unveiled her work in numerous solo, group and juried exhibits. For the past four years she has studied Painting and Drawing Intensive with Carmella Yager at The Museum of Fine Arts Boston. This experimental class implements drawing and painting theory and encourages discussion about the creative process.
Carmela’s art work has been purchased by such corporate clients as the Palmer & Dodge law firm and the Aids Research Center in New York City. Carmela has also created commissions for numerous homes and estates throughout the Boston area. Her painting, Winter in Boston, was chosen for the Arts Around Boston Exhibit at the Charlestown Navy Yard in 2000. She is slated to appear in a juried exhibit at the Boston Design Center in September 2005.
An established yoga instructor, she credits her practice with imbuing the themes of motion, energy, calmness and balance into her work, qualities that are essential when designing art for corporations.Carmela’s yoga practice was showcased on an episode of WCVB-TV’s Chronicle in 2002.
Carmela earned her B.A. in European History from City College New York and her M.A. from Boston College in English Literature where she graduated cum laude. She completed the first novel, The Figure Eight, in 1987. She is currently working on a new book, Soul Focus.
Carmela is a member of the Women’s Caucus for Art and served as the organization’s co-president from 2002-2004. She continues to play an active role in marketing of the organization’s group shows.
